Our Project for 2020 - Lights, Camera, Action!!!!
Glengarriff Theatre Group is planning a new project for the next couple of months!
As you all know this year we are unfortunately unable to perform a panto due to the Covid 19 crisis, but we still wanted to do something to engage our kids. So we are planning to produce a video!
We have engaged the services of Gary McCarthy who is the artist who worked with the kids from Cappabue School to produce their music videos. The kids will write the song- every child will be asked to send us 4 lines based on the theme ‘Friendship, Community & Kindness’ in the first week and these lines will be put together to make the song.
We will also be auditioning by video clip for 15 children who will sing on the track but all kids must learn the song for the video. The song will be recorded on a Saturday in November.
We have a dance teacher, Karolina Spenser who will choreograph and teach a dance by sending out weekly video clips by email. The video will be approximately half an hour long and a new part of the dance will be sent every week.
The children will be emailed the dance on Friday night so they can work on the dance Saturday morning and all week if they want to! Then parents must send us a 1 minute video of them each week on the Thursday so that we can see that they have learnt the new part of the dance (this will be mandatory). There will be easier parts in the dance for our younger members.
We have engaged a videographer Shane Lyne who will video the kids and put the video together. The idea is that we will video kids doing the dance and singing the song in groups of 10 around Glengarriff village and if weather and regulations permit we may video a bigger group in a location where everyone can be social distanced.
To take part your family will have to have been registered with GTG for the 2019 panto. If you are registering your child you have to consent to videos of your child dancing and singing being sent to the production committee and possibly also engaging with zoom calls where a parent’s presence would also be mandatory.
The final video/videos will be put up online for public viewing so please do not register your child unless you are consenting to this.
Numbers are being limited this year to 100 and registration will start on Wednesday morning and finish when we have reached our quota or on Thursday evening even if we haven’t.
So Good Luck Everyone! Let’s do this!!
