Production Activities

The following list of activities gives an indication of the work that goes into putting on a performance.

  • Acting - participating in on stage productions
  • Play Reading - participating in group play reading events
  • Play Selection - Gather suitable plays for the group
  • Reading Chair - Co-ordinates play reading events
  • Play Writing - Writes group plays / Christmas plays & pantos
  • Set Design - just what it says!
  • Set Construction and Painting - ditto!
  • Project Mgmt plans - builds and coordinates activities timelines to produce event 
  • Technical ana- Lighting and Audio Stage setup
  • Stage Management - Ensure stage continuity during productions
  • Stage Lighting - Develop & operate lighting sequences 
  • Stage Audio - Develop & operate sound effects and music 
  • Stage Continuity - Follow script and support cast with prompting  - needs someone with a strong whisper!
  • Costume Design - Identifies suitable costumes for productions
  • Costume Making - Although some specialised costumes may be hired, very often they are made by members of the Group
  • Makeup Artist - makeup and character development
  • Properties - buying, borrowing, stealing or making 'props' to be used in productions
  • Functional Management - overall group administration and equipment mgmt 
  • Director - Responsible for guiding, encouraging and bullying the cast into giving the performance of their life! 
  • Committee - Sets overall direction for the group through regular group meetings
  • Public Relations - Promotes group externally and maintains local paper relationships
  • Secretary - Manages Group Communication and  minutes
  • Treasurer - Maintains group finances
  • Chairperson - Co-ordinates overall group activities and meetings
